Successful campaign and expo in Asla Park

ASLA PARK NEWS - Five organisations within the Mossel Bay community gathered in the Asla Park Community Hall on Friday 30 January for an awareness campaign and career expo.
Members of the KwaNonqaba Police Station, the Genesis NPO, the Mossel Bay Municipality, the Western Cape Department of Social Development and South Cape College set up stations, specifically aimed at attracting the youth.
Each offered info on something different, such as awareness around gender-based violence and femicide, joining the police as a volunteer or new recruit, registering a business through the municipality, free HIV testing and applying for various courses offered at South Cape College.

The KwaNonqaba Police Station's spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, also paid a visit to the children of a crèche that uses some space in the community hall during the week.
He encouraged the little ones to visit the police and report any danger they see or may be involved in.
He also asked that parents not use fear of the police as a way to scare their children into behaving, as it can deter a child from seeking the police's help when they need it most.
Kapp told Mossel Bay Advertiser although a date for the next awareness campaign and career expo has not been set yet, the five organisations would gladly host another one.
