SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Smuts United Football Club...

SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Smuts United Football Club delivered a commanding performance on Saturday morning, 31 January, defeating Sea Birds 5–1 in an exciting Safa Eden Regional Men's League fixture at Smutsville Sports Field in Sedgefield.

Goals from Dwayn Speelman, Corne Melite, Jureldo Armoed, Carl Dirk and Edwardwin Kasagna sealed an emphatic home victory, while Linamandla Jadan Mtonga scored the consolation goal for the Mossel Bay-based Sea Birds.

Smuts United opened the scoring within the first five minutes, but Sea Birds responded well to level the match at 1–1 before halftime. The hosts, however, dominated the second half, capitalising on attacking pressure and defensive lapses to pull away decisively.

Eighteen-year-old centre-back Jureldo Armoed delivered a standout performance, showing leadership and composure at the back.

Following the win, Smuts United moved to ninth place on the log with 13 points, keeping their push for a top-eight finish firmly alive.
