Santos Beach hosts Cape Champs lifesaving competition

MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Cape Champs’ junior/senior lifesaving competition took place on Santos Beach, Mossel Bay, last weekend.
Overall, 116 participants from eight clubs represented the Eastern Cape (Gqeberha) as well as the Western Cape (Mossel Bay and Cape Town) on Saturday 31 January.
On the local side, Mossel Bay had lifeguards from the Marlin Surf Livesaving Club (SLC) and Southern Cross SLC. Cape Town’s SLCs included Fish Hoek, Llandudno, Milnerton as well as Clifton.
Gqeberha was represented by Summerstrand and King’s Beach SLCs.
The participants showed what they were made off in various events, including beach sprints, long run, beach flags, beach relay, surf dazzle, board race, ski race, tube rescue, board rescue, board relay, ironman/-woman and taplin relay.
The Cape Champs results are expected to be available later this week.
