Oriented Birds grind out a draw

PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The former Western Cape Third Division champions, Oriented Birds Football Club, collected four valuable points from their weekend Safa Eden Hollywoodbets Regional Men's League fixtures after a hard-fought draw and victory at Extension 23.
In their opening match, the Plett-based outfit were held to a 1-1 draw by the resilient Sea Birds from Mossel Bay. The encounter proved to be a tightly contested affair, with both teams showing tactical discipline and physical commitment.
Oriented Birds conceded an early goal in the first half but responded with sustained pressure, forcing Sea Birds to defend deep for long periods.
Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, the visitors were unable to convert their opportunities and had to settle for a share of the spoils.
The Yellow Marines bounced back strongly in their second fixture, delivering a confident 2-0 win over newly promoted Flying Eagles.
Displaying sharp passing, intelligent movement and solid defensive organisation, Oriented Birds controlled the match from start to finish. Their quality on the ball and composure in key moments ensured a deserved victory.
Experienced midfielder Melisizwe "Masango" Duda said the team was disappointed not to claim maximum points in the opening match. "It wasn't a difficult game for us, but conceding early made it harder," he said.
Duda added that the team remains focused on improvement.
