Outeniqua (107/5) caused a major upset when they defeated one of the powerhouses in South African schools cricket, Wynberg Boys High.

CRICKET NEWS - Although Outeniqua High School caused two major upsets in the pool stages of the Switch Schools SA20 competition, they could unfortunately not take their impressive performances to the business end of the competition.

The representatives from the Western Cape in the boys and girls U19 leagues participated in the phase two qualifiers on 23 January.

Outeniqua (107/5) caused a major upset when they defeated one of the powerhouses in South African schools cricket, Wynberg Boys High (104/7), by five wickets.

They followed that up with a three-wicket victory against the eventual champions, Paarl Boys High (115/6) as they surpassed the target (118/7) in the last over.

Outeniqua was eventually knocked out by Paarl Gymnasium in the semi-final, losing by nine runs.

The other SWD team in the competition, the Bridgton Hub boys team, lost all their matches while the Bridgton Hub Girls U19 team lost by nine wickets in the final against Drostdy from Boland on 24 January.
