TOURISM NEWS - Val du Charron Wine & Leisure Estate in Wellington, partially closed for six months in 2025 for refurbishments and revamps to some of its accommodation, has recently re-opened its doors.
Situated in the picturesque Bovlei Valley with unbeatable views of the vineyards and mountains, new designs, upgraded facilities, additional rooms and a refreshed look for its dining venues, the transformed Estate now offers an enriched winelands experience for leisure and business guests.
The refurbished 4-star Guesthouse boasts an increase of an additional 20 rooms- there are now 40 luxurious and impressively spacious, family-friendly rooms.
All the rooms come with all the modern conveniences and stunning original South African artworks adorn the walls.

Some of the ground level and first floor rooms offer breathtaking mountain views and overlook the sparkling new giant pool and a baja deck with cocktail seats and cuddle corner, a Boma Bar with a firepit and outdoor seating under the trees.
The Estate’s main restaurant, The Grillroom, revamped and reimagine now includes an expansive buffet area for breakfast, conferencing and special occasions, and a sundeck with an Instagram-worthy look out point.
Its brand-new fresh interior features plush sofas in rich browns and vibrant greens, cosy fireplaces, immense glass doors and a cantilevered deck that appears to float over vineyards and mountains, it is a dining destination like no other.
A ‘carnivore’s paradise’ The Grillroom debuts an exciting menu that highlights many traditional South African favourites, from A grade beef to bobotie to game, also fresh seafood, succulent chicken and tasty vegetarian options.
Not to be left out, Pizza Vista, the Estate’s Italian pizzeria housed in the historic cellar, has an up-to-the-minute new menu for young and old to enjoy. In particular, children will enjoy the enclosed splash pad and play Centre area. Both are fully licensed.
Val du Charron’s other accommodation options: the 5-star Coach House with three suites, each with a spa bath, pool and private patio and the exclusive 5-star two-bedroomed Manor House with a sauna, butler service and its own pool, remain unchanged.
A member of Cape Country Routes this family-owned Estate just 10 minutes from Wellington and less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town, is well known for its luxury accommodation and fine dining. Highlights of a stay at Val du Charron are the wine tastings and cellar tours.
