CIT van rammed and bombed near Randfontein by gang

Armed with automatic rifles, robbers held up security officers on a busy provincial route during peak afternoon traffic.
NATIONAL NEWS - The police are investigating a cash-in-transit heist that occurred on the R28 yesterday afternoon in Mohlakeng, Randfontein.
The Randfontein Herald reports that according to police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, a green Toyota bakkie carrying about 12 suspects rammed a cash van.
“The suspects were armed with automatic rifles and ordered the security guards to exit the vehicle. Shots were fired during the incident before the van was bombed. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. No injuries were reported,” Sibeko said.
He added the suspects fled the scene in a white Mercedes-Benz and a white Chery.
Investigations are ongoing.
